minecraftstory-retail-header

The first episode in Telltale Games’ narrative-focused Minecraft spinoff, Minecraft: Story Mode will hit digital storefronts in October, the studio announced this week.
Minecraft: Story Mode will also launch as a retail package that bundles the entire upcoming series via an included Season Pass.
Based on the blocky world featured in Mojang’s hit sandbox construction titleMinecraft, Telltale’s Minecraft: Story Mode puts players on a choice-driven journey that spans familiar in-game territory like the Nether, the Farlands, and the End. Choosing either a male or female avatar named Jesse (alternately voiced by comedian Patton Oswalt and veteran voice actress Ashley Johnson), players experience the world ofMinecraft through fully voiced interactions with partner characters for the first time.
Other voice actors featured in Minecraft: Story Mode include Brian Posehn, Scott Porter, Martha Plimpton, Dave Fennoy, Corey Feldman, Billy West, and Paul Reubens.
The first of five Minecraft: Story Mode episodes will launch next month, and as with Telltale’s previous games like The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, new chapters will premiere in the weeks afterward. The retail version of Minecraft: Story Mode will include the first episode on-disc, and players can redeem an included Season Pass to download subsequent episodes digitally as they’re released.
“We’ve worked closely with the amazing team at Mojang to ensure this story is a natural fit for the Minecraft world fans already know and love,” Telltale Games co-founder and CEO Kevin Bruner stated. “As Jesse, players will steer their own path through a tale of adventure and survival; all brought to life by an all-star cast. Through Telltale’s choice-based gameplay and a story spanning from the Nether to the Farlands, the End, and beyond, we can’t wait for fans to experience this new take on the beloved world of Minecraft.”
Minecraft: Story Mode will launch first via digital storefronts on October 13 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PS3, and PC platforms, along with iOS and Android devices. Season Pass-bundled retail editions for the PlayStation 4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 will premiere on October 27.

MINECRAFT SNAPSHOT 12W07B (UPDATED) IS READY FOR TESTING!

This week's early-release Snapshot is out! The following changes are confirmed: Added new world file format called 'Anvil' (256 max height and 4096 block IDs*) Multi-player light calculations do no longer cause affected blocks to be transmitted to the clients, instead the clients will recalculate the light on their own Villagers will repopulate villages based on how many houses there are available Some nights in villages will be worse than others... Added a redstone-controlled light source Decreased chance for the rare mob drops All animals use the new AI system now *The game can't use the full range of IDs yet because there are still some assumptions that IDs above 256 are items. NOTE: It is absolutely imperative that players back up their maps before testing the new format, just in case! Jeb also had the following to say about the new save format: Jeb said: NOTE: This snapshot will convert the maps you load to the new file format. If you want to revert to the old format, you need to replace the 'level.dat' file with the file called 'level.dat_mcr'. The new format will write world regions to files called '*.mca', so your original regions will remain as '*.mcr'. UPDATE: The client/server files are now 12w07b! If you downloaded the files earlier today, and want the most up-to-date version, download the updated files from the links below: Updates: Crash bug corrupting levels when spawning mobs above the 255th block Sheep animation is correct in SMP

Minecraft 1.9 Updates

http://gamercity.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/OQXAR-600x337.jpgThe nether has been part of Minecraft for a while now and it hasn’t really served any great purpose but Jens Begensten has been teasing us lately with a few new screenshots of the nether which he posted on his twitter. From the looks of the screenshots he has provided us the nether looks absolutely huge! Very reminiscent of an underground city and with the release of the new 1.9 patch, we will probably see quite a few new nether blocks as well as items being released which will aid you in traveling the, now vast, nether!

Now the new screenshot that he posted doesn’t show any enemies, but I can’t imagine the developers would release such a huge expansion without putting in some new and interesting mobs to kill. Now Jens has also said that we will most likely run into “a new mob that will (nearly) force you to get better upgrades. If you want to fight it, that is”. Which means we will be seeing an improved armor system which allows us to upgrade weapons and armor in order to deal with tougher enemies and armor will be more durable. As of yet that is all we know regarding the new armor system.
Now we already know that 1.9 will include the following:
1. NPC’s will be available to fill up empty villages!
2. Experience points will actually be put to good use! They are currently not used in 1.8 but the developers have said that in 1.9 they will become a bigger part of the game.
3. Animal breeding will become part of the game, presumably for those of us who like farming etc.
4. There will be an increased number of Strongholds per map (3 to unlimited)
5. There will also be boss mobs in strongholds.
6. Armor will have last longer and be more durable.
7. There will also be new Biomes; Snowy and Mushroom. Biomes is another word for a climactic condition(We had to look it up!).

Minecraft 1.9 Brings Craftable Friendly Snowmen

Minecraft 1.9 Brings Craftable Friendly Snowmen
Minecraft's 1.8 "Adventure" update offered a wide variety of enhancements to the game, including a half-finished experience point system, new monsters and the excellent "biome" system for more realistic world generation. Notch and the team at Mojang aren't resting on their laurels, though, and a few details about the upcoming 1.9 are trickling out via the ever-talkative Notch's  Twitter account.
It seems that 1.9 will incorporate a new non-player creature: a snowman. Unlike most of Minecraft's fauna, however, snowmen will be friendly and, appropriately enough, craftable by players. Snowmen apparently have something of a death wish and will seek out conflict with Minecraft's more aggressive monsters such as creepers and fling snowballs at them. This does little more than attract their attention, however, since snowballs deal no damage. This behavior could provide some good potential for luring creatures into traps, however.
Snowmen also spread snow to blocks that they walk on, but they'll eventually melt in hot biomes, making them impractical to use as a "tank" companion for the player.
Alongside the snowmen, Notch has also indicated that he'll be tweaking the behavior of the new creature introduced in 1.8: the Endermen. Currently, Endermen have a habit of grabbing blocks and carrying them around, sometimes vandalizing your hard work on a cool construction. Notch admits that this wasn't his best idea, and has decided to remove the behavior in the upcoming patch.
